Plumbing and drainage work permit - Burdekin Shire Council - Queensland

Description

You will need this approval if you intend to undertake complex plumbing and drainage work (permit work). Examples of this work include:

  • work associated with the construction of a new building or structure
  • installing additional appliances or fixtures for a building connected to a combined drain
  • installing additional appliances or fixtures for a building connected to a dual reticulated water supply provided by a water service provider
  • work that uses a performance solution - under the National Construction Code Volume Three (Plumbing Code of Australia) or the Queensland Plumbing and Wastewater Code.

All plumbing work in Queensland is categorised as:

  • permit work
  • notifiable work
  • minor work
  • unregulated work

Commencement

A permit takes effect the day the permit is issued.

Duration

Permits are valid for 2 years unless it has been issued for a longer period. You can apply to extend the permit by up to 2 years. You can apply for multiple extensions. If you need to apply for an extension, you will need to apply at least 10 business days before the end of the permit's term.

  • elevations plan
  • proposed sanitary drainage / hydraulic plan
  • site soil classification report
  • sanitary articulation design plan (if site classification is H, E or P)
  • on-site sewerage design plan / report (if applicable).
