Plumbing and drainage work permit - Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council - Queensland

Description

You will need this permit if you intend to undertake complex plumbing and drainage work that has a high risk of failure. Examples of this work include:

  • construction of a new building or structure
  • work that will involve or is likely to involve discharge of prohibited substances into a regulated sewer including via an on-site disposal system
  • drainage work for a building or structure served by a combined drain
  • work that involves a dual reticulated water supply provided by a water service provider
  • work that involves an alternative solution under any regulated codes as may be applicable.

You can only perform the permit work covered by your licence.

Once the permit work has been satisfactorily completed, your local council will issue either an inspection certificate or a final inspection certificate.

Duration

Permits are valid for 2 years unless it has been issued for a longer period. You can apply to extend the permit by up to 2 years. You can apply for multiple extensions. If you need to apply for an extension, you will need to apply at least 10 business days before the end of the permit's term.

The local council will:

  • assess your application, the hydraulic plans, specifications and any other supporting documentation
  • inspect the work once it is complete to ensure that it complies with the approval and the Act.

Approval time

New permit applications are divided into two processing time frames: fast-track and standard. Standard applications are usually approved within 10 business days. Fast-track applications are usually approved within two business days.
