Protected plant harvesting licence - Queensland

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to harvest, keep and trade in protected plants. Protected plants are native plant species that face real risk and comprise:

  • threatened species - those native plants listed as critically endangered, endangered and vulnerable and near threatened species
  • special least concern species - least concern plant species subject to harvesting pressure because of their commercial value or their special characteristics (e.g. being slow growing or slow to reproduce).

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence, you must ensure:

  • you are the landholder or have the written approval of the landholder on the land the plant is located
  • the proposed way of taking the plant is ecologically sustainable
  • the proposed activities are not likely to adversely affect the plants' survival in the wild
  • the proposed way of taking the plant complies with the protected plants' assessment guidelines.
