Radiation safety officer certificate - Queensland


You will need this certificate if you intend to be a radiation safety officer (RSO) for a type of radiation practice.

Possession licensees must ensure they have appointed an RSO for the radiation practice before they allow a radiation practice to be carried out (including use licensees operating the radiation equipment).

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this certificate, you must be:

  • a suitable person to hold the accreditation
  • hold the relevant qualifications and training
  • obtain a criminal history and security check
  • have the relevant skills, competency, knowledge and experience.

Additional documentation will be necessary. Please discuss your proposed application with the agency prior to submitting the application.

If the Chief Executive considers the extent of your existing training is inadequate you may be required to undertake radiation safety training of a specified type, and training on the radiation safety legislation.


This certificate cannot be transferred.
