You require this licence to use a Class 4 laser, X ray unit or radioactive substance in Queensland.

What are the prerequisites to obtaining this authority?

You should contact Radiation Health to obtain information on the requirements as they relate to the specific type of application you intend to make.


The licence remains in effect for the period stated on the licence, but not greater than three years.

Application process

You can obtain this licence by contacting Radiation Health to determine the most appropriate application form. The completed application can then be submitted to the Rdaiation Health unit. Please note that application forms are updated each year.

Additional documentation will be necessary. Please discuss your proposed application with Radiation Health prior to submitting the application.

For further information regarding fees refer to the Radiation Safety Regulation 2010, Part 15 and Schedule8.

You must not use a radiation source until a licence is granted. During consideration of a licence application the Chief Executive - refer to Section 61 of the Radiation Safety Act 1999.

It is recommended that you seek the advice of Radiation Health.


This licence cannot be transferred.
