Standard Vehicle Registration - Queensland

Description

Any vehicle used on roads in Queensland must be registered. Operating an unregistered and uninsured vehicle on the road is illegal and you may be fined. 


Examples of vehicles that may be registered include:

  • cars, utes, motorcycles (which includes mopeds and trikes) and trucks
  • trailers and caravans

Non-standard vehicles, such as forklifts, tractors and graders that do not comply with standard regulations for registration but have a genuine need for limited access to the road network to get the job done may be considered for registration under a conditional behicle registration.

Application process

You can obtain this registration by submitting a "Vehicle Registration Application" (Form F 3518) to your Department of Transport and Main Roads customer service centre in person together with the vehicle. For inspection times, locations and hours of business for each customer service centre please refer to www.tmr.qld.gov.au. You may wish to confirm that the centre you will be attending is equipped to inspect motor vehicles.
