Standard vehicle registration - Queensland

Description

You will need to register any vehicle you use on Queensland roads. Operating an unregistered and uninsured vehicle on the road is illegal, and you may be fined.

Examples of vehicles that must be registered include:

  • cars, utes, motorcycles (which includes mopeds and trikes) and trucks
  • trailers and caravans.

There are multiple classes of registration available depending on your purpose for use of the vehicle. These purposes include commercial, licensed tow truck, taxi and limousine.

Non-standard vehicles such as forklifts, tractors and graders that do not comply with standard regulations for registration but have a genuine need for limited access to the road network may be considered for registration under a conditional vehicle registration.
