Roadside vending approval - Brisbane City Council - Queensland

Description

You will need approval to conduct roadside vending. Roadside vending refers to the commercial supply of goods or services on or next to a road and can involve both mobile roadside vending and stationary roadside vending.

Any stall, booth, stand, tables, chairs or standing vehicle set up on any road for the purpose of carrying on any business, requires an approval from council.

If you are operating on state-controlled roads, you will need to contact the department in charge of state roads for information on the State government roadside vending policy.

This approval does not apply to footpath dining activities.

Fees for roadside standing stall or vehicle consent:

  • design requirement assessment - $433.40
  • application fee - $357.65.

Successful applications pay an occupation fee based on the zone location and floor area used. This applies to each square metre of space occupied under the permit each year.

Occupation fee per square metre:

  • Zone A - Brisbane City (not including Queen Street Mall) - $1345.50
  • Zone B - several locations including Fortitude Valley and Spring Hill - $1008.10
  • Zone C - other areas- $672.05.

  • design assessment - $422.85 per application
  • application fee for consent (for businesses that have received design approval) - $220.45 per application
  • occupation fee - $177.45 per month or $535.35 per quarter.
