You will need this permit if you intend to collect forest products including quarry material from any land, including certain freehold lands, where the State of Queensland owns such products. A sale permit is a legal agreement that sets out the commercial terms, rights, and performance requirements agreed between the government and the permit holder. Where there are multiple parties interested in obtaining a sales permit for the same resource, DAF may run a public tender process inviting interested parties to lodge a proposal to purchase the quarry material. DAF will assess the submitted proposals against predetermined assessment criteria to select the proposal at least meets the minimum assessment criteria and provides the State with the best outcomes.
Sale permits are generally issued for the following forestry products:
- saw logs
- poles
- girders
- small volumes of landscaping logs
- foliage, seeds and plants
- fencing material
- firewood
- honey
- other products such as wood turning timber and didgeridoo blanks.
Permit holders are required to meet safety, environmental, planning and other considerations. For further information on environmental and planning requirements, please contact the agency.
Quantities of forest products will occasionally become available for sale. When these opportunities become available, details will be published by the agency. You may be issued with a sales permit to purchase these resources provided you satisfy any required environmental and safety accreditations.
The Department will advertise expressions of interest for the purchase of quarry materials when these opportunities become available.
