Subagent registration - Queensland

You must register if you intend to work as a subagent for a field agent. The registration lets you perform tasks on behalf of your employer.

Once you register, you will be able to act on behalf of a licensed field agent to:

  • find and recover goods
  • collect debts
  • serve documents.

You must not operate a trust account.

Alternatively, you can work as a collection agent and do not require a licence if you only:

  • collect debts (and do not repossess goods or do process serving)
  • contact debtors over the phone or in writing
  • perform evictions or vacant repossessions of real property.

Service type

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, you must:

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • be a suitable person.

There are no educational requirements for applicants for a subagent. You must undergo a criminal history check to confirm their suitability. The criminal history check applies to each person for whom a date and place of birth are requested on the application form.
