Tattooing Show/Exhibition Permit - Queensland


Individual or organisations wishing to hold events or exhibitions where body art tattooing procedures will be performed, must apply for an event permit.  An event permit may be issued for a maximum of 7 days with a maximum of 2 event permits per person per year.  An application for the permit must be made by the events manager for the show or exhibition.

Eligibility requirements

Must Have

To be eligible for a permit, you must:

  • be 18 years of age or older
  • be an Australian citizen or resident.

If you are applying on behalf of an organisation, you will also need to give us:

  • details of the organisation
  • evidence that you are the nominated event manager.


An application for a permit must be made at least 28 days before the proposed commencement date of the tattooing show or exhibition.  Please note that it may take some time to process the application.  Make sure all the information required is with the application to avoid delays.  The Office of Fair Trading will process licence applications as quickly as possible but, as other government agencies are involved in the approval process, applications may take some time to progress.
