Tow truck driver certificate - Queensland

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to drive a tow truck that attends the scene of an incident, a seized police vehicle or to remove vehicles from private property. This certificate will allow you to prepare the motor vehicle for towing and clean up the scene of the incident.

A tow truck driver can only operate under the authority of a holder of a tow truck licence.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible you must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • currently hold an Australian driver licence for the class of tow truck you intend to drive
  • have continuously held the licence for at least three years immediately prior to application
  • successfully pass the relevant operational test in a vehicle of the class you are applying for
  • have a suitable criminal history and traffic history
  • be medically fit and capable to perform the role.
