Description

You will need this approval if your business discharges trade waste into a sewer.

Trade waste means water-borne waste from business, trade or manufacturing premises, other than:

  • waste that is a prohibited substance
  • human waste
  • stormwater.

Examples of businesses that might need a trade waste approval are:

  • cafes and restaurants
  • manufacturing
  • farms
  • abattoirs and butchers
  • medical services
  • vehicle and plant-related businesses
  • cleaning services.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

You will need approval to alter any processes involved in generating trade waste.

Approvals are to be renewed annually.

Transfer
