Description

You will need this approval if your business discharges trade waste into a sewer.

Trade waste includes any liquid waste other than domestic sewage generated from business, trade or manufacturing premises. For example, trade waste can include grease, oil, solids, heavy metals or chemicals.

Examples of businesses that might need a trade waste approval are:

  • cafes and restaurants
  • manufacturing
  • farms
  • abattoirs and butchers
  • medical services
  • vehicle and plant-related businesses
  • cleaning services.

Queensland Urban Utilities is responsible for the sewerage infrastructure within the following councils:

  • Brisbane City Council
  • Ipswich City Council
  • Lockyer Valley Regional Council
  • Scenic Rim Regional Council
  • Somerset Regional Council.

If you reside in one of these council areas, you will need to apply for this approval through Queensland Urban Utilities.
