Transmission authority - Queensland


If you intend to become a transmission entity to operate a transmission grid (high voltage electricity lines) and/or to connect a transmission grid to another transmission grid, you will require this licence.

A transmission entity is a person who holds a transmission authority.

As a transmission entity, you will be required to comply with the conditions stated in the Act.

Application process


In deciding whether to issue an authority or special approval, the Act requires the Regulator to consider a set of clearly defined criteria and, in most cases, to conduct a public consultation process about the application.

Approval time

Due to public consultation requirements and the high volume of applications we receive, it may take at least 4 months until you are advised of an outcome.

Additional information

Breach of the Authority will result in cancellation of the Authority or other disciplinary action.
