Description

You will need this approval to install, alter, disconnect or remove a water meter. Water meters can be connected to residential and commercial properties. Water meters must be installed by a licensed plumber.

A water meter is a device that records the amount of water being used on your property. Your meter will usually be located near the front boundary of your property inside a meter box.

Eligibility requirements

You may be required to ensure that all lot numbers and boundary pegs are clearly visible on the property before the water meters are installed. In some cases, you may also be required to install a conduit by under-road boring.

You may also be required to get your property surveyed prior to submitting your application.

If you are applying for a commercial water meter connection, you may be required to provide hydraulic plans with your application.

For commercial properties intending to connect a water meter, you may need to supply the relevant Operational Works (OPW) or Reconfigure a Lot (RAL) approvals.
