WHS entry permit - Queensland

Description

You will need this permit if you are a union official and intend to enter a workplace to inquire into a suspected contravention of workplace health and safety legislation. You must have a reasonable suspicion that a breach has occurred or is occurring and it must relate to a relevant worker during usual working hours.

Application process

A union may apply to the industrial registrar for the issue of a WHS entry permit to a person who is an official of the union. The application must specify the person who is to hold the WHS entry permit and include a statutory declaration by that person declaring that he or she is an official of the union, has satisfactorily completed the prescribe training and holds or will hold an entry permit under the Fair Work Act or an industrial officer authority.
