Asbestos removal licence - A class - Queensland

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to operate a business that removes any amount of friable asbestos (material that contains asbestos and is in a powder form or that can be crumbled, pulverised or reduced to a powder by hand pressure when dry).

Class A licence holders must ensure the removal of friable asbestos is directly supervised by a nominated supervisor. Class A licence holders are also authorised to carry out Class B asbestos removal work.

Eligibility requirements

Nominated supervisors for class A asbestos removal work must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • have at least three years of relevant industry experience following the completion of the relevant qualification
  • hold certification in CPCCDE3015 Remove friable asbestos and CPCCDE4008 Supervise asbestos removal.

Application process

  1. Complete the application form and read the guide for asbestos applicants
  2. Submit the application form, supporting documents and fee to Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ)
  3. WHSQ will contact you if any additional information is required
  4. If approved, WHSQ will issue the licence to the PCBU.

Lodgement process

Lodge

The licensed asbestos removalist must give written notice of 'licensed asbestos removal work' to WHSQ at least five days before the asbestos removal work is started.
