Commercial special facility licence - Queensland

Description

A commercial special facility licence allows liquor to be served in association with the provision of one of the following facilities:

  • a casino
  • an airport
  • a convention centre
  • another facility that makes, or is likely to make, a significant contribution to the tourism development of the state. This does not include sporting facilities.

Trading hours

Airports or casinos covered under this licence type may apply for approval to trade between 5am and 12 midnight. All other businesses under this licence type have standard trading hours of 10am to 12 midnight. Application may be made to extend this trading to 3am or 5am.

Casinos and airports that had approval to trade 24 hours prior to 1 January 2009 will continue to have these trading hours.

Trading conditions

Trading conditions will be determined having regard to the nature of the business being conducted, and will be endorsed on the licence document.

The licence document will also designate defined liquor consumption areas. Generally, liquor may be served either:

  • to the general public for consumption on the premises during the hours specified in the licence
  • to the general public for consumption off the premises if the licence so specifies.
