Fireworks operator licence - Queensland

Description

A fireworks operator licence is required for an individual to:

  • use fireworks for a fireworks display organised by a fireworks contractor
  • possess fireworks to use them in a fireworks display organised by a fireworks contractor
  • store and transport limited quantities of fireworks (to use them in a fireworks display organised by a fireworks contractor).

Note: A fireworks operator licence does not allow the licence holder to purchase fireworks.

A fireworks operator may conduct displays only under the supervision of a fireworks contractor.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

You must:

  • be an adult
  • have successfully completed, within the last 3 years, an approved course in the use of fireworks
  • be physically and mentally capable
  • be able to read and understand English to the satisfaction of the Chief Inspector
  • be an appropriate person.

Duration

This licence is effective for a period of 1 year or 3 years from the date of approval.

Application process

This licence may be applied for by an individual to cover the use of fireworks only.

You can obtain this licence by submitting a completed application form to the nearest Explosives Regional Office.

Transfer process

This licence cannot be transferred.
