The following entities are eligible for registration:
- individual
- learning institutions (includes schools, colleges, TAFEs or universities)
- a corporation (includes pharmaceutical companies, zoos, theme parks, research institutes, etc.)
- public authorities (includes federal, state or local government departments or bodies).
Before applying, you should establish arrangements with an Animal Ethics Committee to assess, approve and oversee your activities and projects that involve the use of animals for scientific purposes.
You will need to declare whether you have been subject to a disqualifying event.
A 'disqualifying event' includes having been convicted of an animal welfare offence, or having had your scientific use registration cancelled or suspended in Queensland or in another Australian jurisdiction. However, a disqualifying event does not preclude granting of a registration, and the nature and relevance of any disqualifying event(s) will be considered in making a decision about registration.
