Wine permit - Queensland

Description

You will need this permit if you want to sell your wine at a one-off event (e.g. festivals, trade shows, conventions) that is not held at the licensed premises detailed on your wine licence. The events can be held at either a licensed or unlicensed venue. However, restrictions will apply if the event is held at licensed premises.

A wine permit can be issued to:

  • an individual licensee
  • a group of licensees intending to operate from the same area at the same event (e.g. operating a Queensland wine booth at a major festival).

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

You need to hold a current wine producer licence or wine merchant licence.

Duration

A wine permit is issued for one-off events for the duration of the event.

If a group of licensees applies for a wine permit:

  • each licensee whose wine is to be sold at the proposed permit place must agree to the permit
  • one licensee must be nominated as the holder of the permit but all licensees are jointly responsible at the event.

Lodgement process

You must lodge your application 21 days before the first date of your event.

Transfer

This licence cannot be transferred.
