Accreditation as a Dairy Farmer - South Australia


Dairy Farmers (including farms that milk goats, sheep etc) intending to sell or deliver milk to a Dairy Processor must obtain Accreditation.

There are two categories of accreditation:

  • Accreditation as a Dairy Farmer supplying a large scale Dairy Processor.
  • Accreditation as a Dairy Farmer supplying a small scale Dairy Processor.

Anyone dealing with animals must have a firm understanding of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and Regulations.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

Farmers must generally have a contract with a Dairy Processor, although there are exceptions, such as farmers selling their own product.




There is a two-tiered structure:

Large dairy processors: 0.0609 cents/litre
Small processors (<1m litres): $495/annum
