Approval to Conduct Activities in a Wilderness Protection Area - South Australia

Description

You will need written approval if you intend to undertake specified activities within a wilderness protection area or zone. South Australia contains 14 wilderness protection areas, which comprise large unmodified tracts of land which retain their natural character. Specified activities include:

  • use of vehicles
  • use of aircraft
  • use of vessels
  • camping
  • lighting fires
  • possession and use of chainsaws
  • use of generators and alternators
  • use of metal or mineral detectors
  • possession and use of firearms
  • swimming and diving
  • use of caves
  • rock climbing, abseiling or sand boarding
  • interfering with animals, plants and earth material.
