You will need to comply with this standard if you intend to produce game meat for human consumption.

This standard sets out hygiene and transportation requirements for producing game meat for human consumption from wild game and birds slaughtered in their natural habitat, as well as small animals such as hare.

The object of this standard is to make provisions for:

  • sourcing and harvesting of wild game
  • animal welfare
  • dressing of carcasses
  • postmortem inspection
  • controlling cross-contamination
  • identification, traceability and record keeping
  • premises and equipment.
