You will need a permit or special approval to undertake the following busking activities:
- performing using knives, fire or other hazardous substances
- performing for long periods of time
- selling or street trading
- artists selling pre-fabricated work
- performing permanent artworks or putting permanent installations in place
- touting, spruiking or advertising
- political rallying
- religious preaching and promotions
- fortune telling
- massage, chiropractic treatment or other physical manipulation
- face or body painting
- temporary tattoo applications including henna
- fundraising on behalf of a charity, cause or organisation
- commercial promotions.
A permit is not required for the following activities:
- performing with an instrument or multiple instruments, noise levels sensitive to the enjoyment of the area
- performing a song, dance routine, mime, clowning, juggling, puppetry, comedy, magic or living statue act
- actively working in an artistic medium such as temporary painting, portraiture or chalk art.
