Certificate of Compliance - Maintenance of Essential Safety Provisions - South Australia

Description

Certain buildings may be required to have essential safety provisions installed. The Council or other relevant authority may need to advise the owner of a building of the essential safety provisions and maintenance standards required for that building upon granting provisional building rules consent, upon a change in classification of the building or upon application of the owner. The owner of the building may then need to provide the Council with a certificate of compliance for each essential safety provision. As soon as practicable after the end of each calendar year the building owner must provide proof to the Council that adequate maintenance and testing has been carried out in respect of all essential safety provisions. Building owners must not use or permit the use of a building unless the appropriate maintenance and testing of essential safety provisions has been carried out. Purchasers of new buildings should contact the Council to ensure that the building has the required essential safety provisions.
