You will need this registration to fulfil your obligations in relation to portable long service leave if you are an employer of eligible construction workers and operate in the construction industry.
Construction workers, including full time, part-time and casual employees performing building, electrical or metal trades work, predominantly on site, are entitled to portable long service leave in South Australia. Portable long service leave means employees in the construction industry do not need to work with the same employer for 10 years to be eligible for long service leave.
Employers of eligible construction workers are required by law to register with the scheme within one month of employing, lodge Employer Returns and pay a levy based on 2% of remuneration (excluding apprentices who are levy free) every 2 months.
