To be eligible for an emu farming permit, you must:
- be a member of an Emu Farming Association
- have development approval to conduct emu farming on your property
- demonstrate how you meet application criteria relating to the nature of your farming operations, boundary fencing, emu handling facilities and emu care
- be aware of the requirements of the Australian Model Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals: Husbandry of Captive-Bred Emus.
An inspection of each site is required before your permit is approved.
