An Entertainment Venue Licence authorises the licensee to sell liquor at any time for consumption on the licensed premises in a designated dining area, with or ancillary to a meal provided by the licensee, and on the licensed premises at a time when live entertainment is provided, during the times specified in the Act, usually between 9PM and 5AM each day. (Not at anytime falling between 9pm on Christmas Day and 5am the following day, 9pm on Thursday before Good Friday and 5am on Good Friday, 9pm on Good Friday and 5am the following day).
The Licensing Authority must be satisfied that the proposed premises are suitable, have all the necessary planning and building approvals, applicants are suitable, that the granting of the licence will not cause any undue offence or annoyance to those who work, worship or reside in the locality, and that the licence category is suitable for the activity proposed. The licensing authority may refuse an application for a licence, but instead may grant a certificate of approval for the proposed premises.
The business conducted at the licensed premises must consist primarily and predominantly of the provision of live entertainment; and be suitably monitored in accordance with the conditions of the Licensing Authority.
