Export Permit (Wildlife) - South Australia


You will need this permit to export protected animals out of South Australia. A protected animal includes any species of mammal, bird or reptile which is:

  • indigenous to Australia
  • migratory and occasionally migrates to, and lives in, Australia
  • specified as a protected species in the legislation.

You will be authorised under this permit to export a protected animal or the carcass or egg of a protected animal out of South Australia.

You will need a permit for each protected animal you will transport out of South Australia before each animal is transported.

You will need a separate permit to export animals overseas.

One month from the date of issue of the permit or immediately after the consignment has taken place.

This permit cannot be transferred.

Additional information

All animals must be lawfully obtained, such as through captive breeding or purchase from a licensed dealer.

You will not need a permit to export unprotected animals out of South Australia.

If you hold a Kangaroo Processor Permit or Tannery Permit, you may apply for a single permit for multiple consignments.
