You will need this registration if you intend to enter into a forest property agreement. A forest property agreement enables commercial forestry development on private land by transferring certain rights from the landowner to another person. It may also specify actions relating to the establishment, management, and harvesting of trees, and provide the tree owner with the right to enter the land for these purposes.
There are two types of forest property agreement:
- forest property (vegetation) agreements - these separate ownership of forest vegetation from ownership of the land to which the forest vegetation relates without severance of the vegetation from the land
- forest property (carbon rights) agreements - these separate the ownership of carbon rights from ownership of the vegetation to which the carbon rights relate.
