Gaming Machine Licence - South Australia

Description

You will need this licence to own and operate gaming machines. This licence will allow you to possess up to 40 approved gaming machines at one venue.

You may hold more than one gaming licence for separate parts of the premises if there are also separate liquor licences for the premises.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for a licence, you must hold or have applied to hold one of the following liquor licences:

  • a general and hotel liquor licence
  • a club liquor licence
  • an on premises liquor licence (only if the nature of the business is similar to a licensed club and the premises is a major sporting venue or sporting code headquarters).

You will need to have persons within your business who hold a position of authority (director, manager, shareholder etc.) approved as part of your application. These persons must complete and lodge a personal identification declaration with the application.

You will need to submit your completed application with:

  • a copy of the lease agreement, landlord permission, or certificate of title
  • a copy of a bank or loan statement if you have borrowed money to finance the application
  • evidence that you have entered into a service agreement with a licensed service agent
  • evidence that shows the licence aligns with community interests
  • supporting documentation if you are applying as a partnership, company, or trust
  • the prescribed fee.

Transfer

This licence may be transferable depending on your circumstances.

Additional information

You must notify the agency of a new gaming manager or gaming employee through the Barring and Online Employee Notification (BOEN) system before that employee begins work.

You must have a gaming machine entitlement for every gaming machine you operate.
