Gaming Machine Service Licence - South Australia


You will need this licence to install, service and repair approved:

  • gaming machines
  • gaming equipment
  • prescribed gaming machine components.

A prescribed gaming component includes:

  • a software package, other than a game, that controls any part of the gaming machine and any device containing the software
  • gaming machine artwork
  • a gaming machine cabinet
  • a gaming machine reel tape and reel mechanism
  • a gaming machine hopper
  • a bank note acceptor
  • any device for the issue of tickets used in connection with a gaming machine.

Gaming machine service licence holders must ensure each person employed to work as a gaming machine technician is approved by the agency.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence, you must have sufficient physical, financial and technical resources.

You will also need to have the people within your business who hold positions of authority (e.g. director, manager, shareholder) approved as part of your application. These people, as well as those approved as a gaming technician, must complete and lodge a personal identification declaration.

Application process


You will need to lodge your completed application with:

  • details of your technical expertise and ability to offer services to all gaming machine licensees in South Australia
  • a summary of past or current business operations
  • details of your intended provision of service and hours of operation
  • details of your financial and physical capacity to hold spare parts and equipment
  • supporting documentation if you are applying as a partnership, company, or trust
  • fee payment.


This licence cannot be transferred.

Additional information

You must notify the agency of a new gaming manager or gaming employee through the Barring and Online Employee Notification (BOEN) system before that employee begins work.
