Qualified gas fitters must issue an electronic certificate of compliance (eCoC) following completion of gas work .
Gas fitters, and any contractor involved in the work, must both sign off on the eCoC. These certificates confirm that:
- the tradesperson is correctly licensed
- the completed work has been tested, is safe and meets the Australian Standards
- the contractor has informed you of any existing safety concerns.
An eCoC must be provided for:
- work on gas pipes
- installing or replacing appliances, such as hot water units and stove tops
- converting to an alternative gas, for example from LPG to natural gas.
The eCoC must be issued (once the job is completed) within 30 days for gas-related work.
