You will need to comply with this code if you conduct a business that involves the handling and controlling of asbestos or have a duty to manage the risks of handling and controlling asbestos.
The duty holders who have a role in managing and controlling asbestos or ACM in the workplace:
- person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU)
- designers, manufacturers, importers and suppliers of plant, substances or strictures officers
- workers
- other person at the workplace.
This code provides practical guidance on how to manage risks associated with asbestos, asbestos containing material (ACM) and asbestos-contaminated dust or debris (ACD) in the workplace. Following the code will minimise the incidence of asbestos-related diseases such as mesothelioma, asbestosis and lung cancer.
