Industrial Hemp Licence - South Australia


You will need this licence to possess, cultivate, process or supply industrial hemp for any of the following purposes:

  • commercial production
  • use in a manufacturing process
  • food production
  • scientific research, instruction, analysis or study
  • any other approved purpose.

Industrial hemp is a plant or any part of a plant (including seed) from the Cannabis genus that has been bred to have tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) levels in the leaves and flowering heads less than one per cent.

Industrial hemp is cultivated for seed or fibre production and is used in:

  • industrial products
  • cosmetics
  • food products
  • industrial and consumer textiles
  • paper
  • building materials.

  • have not been found guilty of a drug related offence.
