Investigation Agents Licence - South Australia

Description

You will need this licence to carry on business as an investigation agent or work as an employee of an investigation agent. Investigation agents perform collection work or inquiry work for fee or reward, including:

  • tracking or repossessing goods
  • seizing goods to recover money
  • requesting or collecting debt payments
  • searching for missing persons
  • obtaining information about a person's character, actions or work without the written consent of that person
  • carrying out legal process for the enforcement of a court order
  • obtaining evidence to be used in legal proceedings.

Individuals, partners and companies can apply for this licence.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, you must:

  • have the relevant qualifications
  • be financially solvent
  • have at least $10,000 in net assets
  • not have been a director of a company that has wound up in the past five years
  • not have been convicted of offences prescribed by the regulations.

If you do not have the relevant qualifications, you may apply for a restricted licence to work with a licensed business partner (details can be found in the attached documents and on the agency website).
