Labour Hire Licence - South Australia

Description

You need this licence if you intend to provide labour hire services. Labour hire is a form of employment where an employer directs it's employees to perform work at an external workplace (host).

If you are providing labour hire services in the following industries you are required to be licensed now:

  • horticulture processing
  • meat processing
  • seafood processing
  • cleaning
  • trolley collection.

For all other industries you must be licensed by 29 July, 2026.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible as an individual, you must:

  • be financially solvent
  • have the required knowledge and experience
  • have at least two fit and proper people who are responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the business
  • ensure you and each responsible person hold a current National Police Certificate.

To be eligible as a body corporate, you must:

  • be financially solvent
  • ensure at least one director has the required knowledge and experience
  • have at least two fit and proper people who are responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the business
  • ensure that all directors and each responsible person have a current National Police Certificate.

Duration

The licence remains in force until surrendered, cancelled or the licensed body corporate is dissolved.
