Lakes and Coorong Fishery Licence - South Australia


You will need this licence if you intend to undertake commercial fishing in the Lakes and Coorong Fishery. The Lakes and Coorong Fishery includes the waters of the Coorong, Lake Alexandrina, Lake Albert, and specified coastal waters.

No new licences for the Lakes and Coorong Fishery are being issued. Licences are only available by transfer from an existing licence holder.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to be transferred this licence, you will need to:

  • be at least 15 years of age
  • be a fit and proper person.
If the transferee is a company, each director of the company must be a fit and proper person.


Licences are valid for the period of the applicable management plan. The current management plan will cease on 30 June 2021, at which point current licences will expire.

You may also transfer your pipi (a small bivalve mollusc) quota entitlement.
