You must notify the agency of any lead risk work within 7 days of the risk determination or if a determination is unable to be made. This applies even if the work is short-term, such as abrasive blasting of lead paint from a structure.
The notification includes providing the notification form as well as a written copy of the risk control measures to minimise worker exposures to lead.
Lead risk work means work carried out in a lead process that is likely to cause the blood lead level of a worker carrying out the work to exceed:
- for a female of reproductive capacity - 5 micrograms per decilitre (0.24 micromoles per litre)
- in other cases - 20 micrograms per decilitre (0.97 micromoles per litre).
