Licence to Import Explosives - South Australia

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to import a lot, parcel or consignment of explosive exceeding 15 kg or gunpowder, or 3 kg of any other explosive into South Australia. This includes importing explosives from interstate.

Explosives include:

  • gunpowder
  • nitro-glycerine
  • gun-cotton
  • blasting powder
  • fulminate of mercury
  • fog-signals
  • fireworks
  • fuses
  • rockets
  • percussion caps
  • detonators
  • cartridges
  • ammunition of all descriptions,
  • every adaptation of preparation of an explosive as above defined.

You must notify the relevant agency at least two full working days prior to the import of a lot, parcel or consignment. Furthermore, all imported explosives must be classified (i.e. their composition, quality and character defined) by the relevant agency prior to the issue of any licence.
