Description

You will need this licence if you intend to store explosives exceeding 60 kilograms (kg) in a receptacle, store or magazine. A magazine includes any hulk appointed for the storage of explosives.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for a magazine licence, you will need

  • a letter from your local council confirming the magazine is not contrary to any by-laws
  • a drawing of magazine location giving sufficient detail to enable the magazine to be readily located and showing the situation of buildings, roads etc.
  • a floor plan showing the location of the various types of explosives
  • a drawing of the surroundings of the magazine showing dwellings, shed, workshops, public resorts, roads, railways, detonator store, quarry workings etc.
