Magazine Licence - South Australia


A Magazine Licence is required for the storage of explosives exceeding 3 kilograms unless explosives are in a store or receptacle on premises. A licence granted shall be issued to the applicant and is not transferable.

2019-2020 fees:

Fixed Magazines:
$204 does not exceed 1000 kg
$353 exceeds 1000 kg

Portable Magazines:
$140 does not exceed 60 kg
$408 does not exceed 1000 kg
$710 exceeds 1000 kg.

Application process

The paper form 'Application for Permit to Purchase Explosives' is available from the agency.

Additional information

Holds a current permit to purchase explosives or in the case of fireworks being stored, a pyrotechnician's licence.
In the case of a company, proof of the company name is a legal entity. A certificate of incorporation must accompany the application form.
