You will need this licence if you intend to undertake comprehensive major betting operations or limited major betting operations.
A comprehensive major betting operations licence holder may be authorised to:
- conduct off-course totalisator betting on races held by licensed racing clubs
- conduct off-course totalisator betting on approved contingencies
- conduct on-course totalisator betting under agreements with licensed racing clubs
- conduct other forms of betting on races held by licensed racing clubs or on approved contingencies.
There is only one comprehensive major betting operations licence in force at any one time, and it is currently held by TAB SA.
Limited major betting operations licence holders may be authorised to conduct:
- off-course totalisator betting on races held by licensed racing clubs
- off-course totalisator betting on approved contingencies
- other forms of betting on races held by licensed racing clubs or on approved contingencies.
