This licence enables the holder to conduct exploratory operations only. It does not permit mining. Applicants are required to invest a minimum of $30 000 in exploration activity. Exploration for opals in specific areas of South Australia is also permitted under this licence.
A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
Any person or company that has sufficient technical and financial resources required to undertake an exploration program.
Up to 5 years - generally granted for 1 year at a time, and may be renewed.
