Motor Driving Instructors Licence - South Australia

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to conduct work as a motor vehicle driving instructor for fee or reward. A motor vehicle driving instructor teaches another person to drive a motor vehicle.

Trainers who teach 4WD or defensive driving courses to people who already hold a driver’s licence don’t need a Motor Driving Instructors Licence.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, you must:

  • hold a current South Australian driver's licence
  • have held a driver's licence for at least four years with no disqualifications in that time
  • have held an unconditional driver's licence at least two years with no disqualifications in that time (minimum age 21 years)
  • completed a Certificate of Fitness
  • have a National Police Certificate
  • demonstrate competency as a motor driving instructor by holding a current Certificate IV in transport logistics - road transport driving instruction, completing a road rules theory test, and completing a regulator assessment.
