During the check process, the agency will assess:
- your national criminal history record
- any disclosable court outcomes, such as charges, convictions, and court appearances

Individuals may apply for their own check, or an organisation may apply for a check on behalf of an individual. An organisation must register with the agency before applying for checks on behalf of individuals.
The Working with Children Check replaced the South Australian child-related employment screening check. If you have an employment screening check, it will remain valid until it expires. After this, you will need to apply for a Working with Children Check.
All employment screening checks will have expired by 1 July 2022.
If you have applied for a Working with Children Check, you may be permitted to work with children while your application is being processed.
