You must be registered with the Optometry Board of Australia to practise as an optometrist. Registered optometrists are involved in the measuring of vision, prescribing corrective lenses where necessary and detecting eye disease and can use the protected title of optometrist or optician.
There are four different types of registration offered to practitioners:
- general
- limited
- non-practising
- student.
