You will need this permit if you intend to excavate, disturb or remove artefacts from a State Heritage Place of archaeological significance.
The South Australian Heritage Council is responsible for registration of places of archaeological significance. A full list of registered places is available for public viewing on the South Australian Heritage Council website.
A full report of the results of the work carried out must be submitted to the agency within 2 months of the expiration of the permit (i.e. copy of all notes, plans, sections and photographs relating to the work carried out). The number and location of all specimens or artefacts recovered from a place must also be supplied to the agency following any works.
