You will require a permit if you intend to take galahs or little corellas for the live pet trade. The permit will entitle you to either live trap birds or take young birds from nest hollows.
The maximum number of birds that may be taken under this permit is 150.
Birds must be at least two-thirds feathered (body fully feathered and tail not fully extended) before being trapped or taken from the nest.
Birds taken from the nest cannot be sold until they can fly and/or feed themselves.
Birds taken by trapping cannot be sold until they have been held in captivity for at least 14 days and are free flying and wholly independent.
Please contact the agency for more information.
