Permit to Take Galahs and / or Little Corellas by Trapping or from the Nest - South Australia

Description

You will need this permit to take Galahs or Little Corellas for the live pet trade.

This permit will authorise you to either trap the live birds or take young birds from nest hollows.

The following restrictions are attached to this permit:

  • you cannot take more than 150 birds
  • you can only trap or take birds that are at least two-thirds feathered (body fully feathered and tail not fully extended)
  • you cannot sell birds taken from the nest until they can fly and / or feed themselves
  • you cannot sell birds taken by trapping until they have been held in captivity for at least 14 days and are free flying and wholly independent.

Duration

In the case of trapping, your permit will expire three months from the date of issue. In the case of taking from the nest, your permit will last three to four months expiring on 31 December.

Transfer

Permits cannot be transferred.

Additional information

You require prior written permission from a landowner to use their land for the purposes of taking Galahs or Little Corellas.

Your permit will only be valid for the properties specified on the application form.
