Prawn Fishery Licence - South Australia

Description

You will need a licence if you intend to undertake commercial prawn fishing in the Gulf St. Vincent, Spencer Gulf and West Coast fisheries.

You will be authorised under this licence to take Western King Prawns from the fishery. You will also be authorised to take the following if these are taken at the same time and in the same net incidentally to prawns:

  • Balmain Bugs
  • Southern Calamari.

No new licences for fishing in the Gulf St Vincent, Spencer Gulf and West Coast fisheries are being issued. Licences are only available by transfer from an existing licence holder.

To hold a prawn fishery licence, you will need to:

  • be at least 15 years of age
  • be a fit and proper person 
  • if the transferee is a company, each director of the company must be a fit and proper person to be a director of a company that holds a licence in respect of the abalone fishery.
